Workshops
In Brief
She's maybe Scotlands treasure, but Fiona Davidson, has a cult following of those that continue to attend her Weekly Workshops and learn the techiques that makes Scottish traditional music stand out in Western Australia! Growing up in the North East; for a fiddler, that’s a good part of Scotland to come from as its one of the country’s richest areas for traditional music, Scott Skinner, James Alexander, and William Marshall, who even came from the same town as Fiona. Now into her seventh year of teaching Scottish Traditional music in Perth, her reputation has gone from strength to strength as pupils continue their learning journey of Traditional Music right here in WA.
If you want to master the technique of playing jigs and reels, double stop, grace notes and all the frills of a trad. fiddler please email scottishstramash@gmail.com or message us here.
Workshops are held weekly on a Thursday 7pm - 8.30pm in small group settings.
All levels of musicianship and any instrument within the genre of Scottish Traditional Music are made very welcome.
Each workshop can differ depending on the demands of the tune(s) being played.
Music is broken down, assessed for play and slow intelligent practice is put in place with the music or without for those learning by ear. Tempo work is also covered and at times technique, skills and handy hints are passed on.
This is a stress free environment that undoubtedly benefits the players involved. The workshop environment is an excellent experience for continuity of play.
